The Ujaama Farmers Collective Supports its Own

Black people have been farming this land from the moment we were forced into slavery in this country. And to have worked the land for so long and so hard, to have it stripped away after it was promised to us, was another blow entirely. So to say our relationship with the land has been complicated is an understatement. But it's always been in our blood. Now, a group of farmers is working to reclaim our connection to farming and has formed the non-profit, the Ujamaa Farmer Collective, with the goal of building equitable access to land for the next generation of farmers. They work to support Black farmers and farmers of color to grow and sustain their own farms and markets.
